Queen Elizabeth the first-Margaret

Once hearing the word throne, what is the first thing that comes up to your mind? Most likely a huge handsome king with a well grown beard, wrinkles made at just the right place, tall and muscly with a generous, warm heart for the people. But instead, imagine this. A small figure of an women, fully wrapped in jewels , (which weighs more than herself) with white powder tremendously sprinkled on her face, a woman of bright red hair, siting on the thorn with a crown on her head. Now this may be a contrast of the general thought of kings, or rulers, but 손 a true realistic history of london.

Her most graceful majesty, she was so called. It may be a bit of an exaggeration, but compared to the brutal reign of her beforehand,(called bloody Mary) she was considered an angel. She didn't like executions being held so only burnt five I her whole reign! She was also a very wise and thoughtful woman, as from her obedient observations of her befores, she knew that marriage only caused trouble. But she also knew that without a husband she shall get in to a bit of an tangled yarn, too. So she decided to play about, flirt , but to remain single, although always making people guess of her love life. She would never let them lose hope, which would be her best supports for her title. Her life, even though encrusted with jewels also had sad moments in her life. Brought up without knowing the mother's love, she was soon depleted of her father's too. When her half brother, Edward dies, and her sister Mary takes the thrown, she lives I complete terror of getting executed. However she wasn't and was able to live thorough her life. She was so called the pacifist queen as she hated getting ito battles, and debates. She'd rather be living in a quite peaceful country where her people loves her and looks up to her. And her wish had been partly made tue, she is the Icon of England's history, a woman with a man's stomach.

Book Review of If I stay-Maggie the Maregaret

The world is a swimming pool of all kinds of stories, which terrify us, move us to tears or something to drive us to the wall. Some stories can make up a good deal of bustling, and so had been the one magical tale-that dead people can awake back to life. There was a man who had died after a choking experience but came to life again. He explained that he was following a man into a tunnel, when he heard his Mother cry. Her moans and weeps broke his heart, that even knowing that it wasn't right, he let go of the man and ran back up the tunnel. That's how he found himself back in his rooms, with startled and baffled expressions crowding down on him.

Excepting those kinds of stories, I do not know much about death or anything like that. The only death that had occurred in my family was twice and once I was four and another one occurred when I wasn't even present at all. I do not remember anything but my grandfather lying in bed motionless-lifeless. My sister and I were too care free and while all the adults were praying and weeping, we sat around the living room drawing princesses and fruits. At the funeral I saw my grandpa's picture on a large table and huge amounts of food accompanying it. It was the biggest table I had ever seen! I was partially bewildered of the moans and weeps around me, but was also greatly proud that grandfather looked so important and majestic up there. But I never got to tell him that and the majestic picture on the huge table was, and that's my last knowledge of him.

If I stay is about a girl who is in a pond of unconsciousness, pondering if she should just fade away as her other family members or to stay with her left loved ones. She can't decide, not being able to weigh the things that had went before her and the things that are present. Moaning of her plight, she goes back to her past memories and tries to find a key to help her, a voice to guide her. As she ponders she thinks about her grandparents, her adoring boyfriend and her future as a cello musician. Knowing that one day they would all be together, she opens her eyes and faces her back to the guard of heaven.

After I read the book, I got curious and wanted to know if my grandfather was also given a choice to decide, a choice of life and death. People say that gone people are with us, watching us, and that it is not a parting forever. I want to believe that too, and if grandfather was just like the girl who had pondered, I'm sure he had reasons. So we got to understand the gone people, as others would have to ours.

I read a news named 'Under-18s will be banned from sunbeds to cut soaring skin cancer toll .'  It is about the new law. This law says that any tanning salon found letting under-18s use its beds from today faces a fine of up to 20,000 pounds. This is because lot's of children and teenagers are having skin cancers because of sunbeds. Experts are saying that spending 20 minutes in ultra-violet light is same as spending a day at the beach.
After I read this artical I learned about the danger of tanning in sunbeds. I was surprised after I read about 'spending 20 minutes in sunbed is same as spending one day at the ocean.' I know the danger very well about staying at ocean. There is a very strong sunlight in the ocean and it makes my skin hurt. It means that spending times in the sunbed is very very for our skin. I'll never use sunbeds for tanning.

Outer Space-Margaret

The sun, stars and the tranquility

I try to imagine it, the dark beauty
there's a place called outer space

There's no time, only eternity
no troubles or even worry
the sun, stars and the tranquility

Thousands of stars woven like lace
so luminous like a glowing fairy
there's a place called other space

There's no beginning or end, only infinity
a hollow but fulfilled scenery
the sun, stars and the tranquillity

The air of soothing, calm peace
nothing's mellow like this, surly
there's a place called outer space

It's one grand entity
all things in perfect harmony
The sun, stars and the tranquility
there's a place called outer space

Bells -Margaret

   Bells shine a thousand glisters

but in my heart a thousand blisters
So much pain I need to endure
this torment that isn't like before
days and nights I need to spend
just praying for the end
pester me no more
it's more than I can bear
I am done I am alone
waiting to rest in meadow of dandelion
a place where breezes come and by
sky so beautiful as jay birds fly
a lake so luminous and clear and bright
sparkling like shattered diamonds at the sun light
it's the place I truly belong
I'll be there before long
Bells shine a thousand glisters
but in my heart a thousand blisters

Marie Antoinette Margaret

When she was born, a fortune teller read marie Antoinette's horoscope and concluded that her life would be a disaster. Afraid that the baby would bring chaos to the royal family, her father hastily canceled the birth party for the baby. However, nothing much dangerous happened in the child's life. She learnt to read and write, to dance ballet, to sing and hoarse riding. She was cheerful and mischievous and looking at her full picture, she was just an normal kid. But life changes quite unexpectantly, and when her older sister was married off to another's country's royalties, her mother was planning g to marry off Marie, too. She smoothed out her daughter's hair line, made her wear braces, and the culture of france. Yes. Her mother and the ambassador of france had came to an conclusion that marie was sure to be the mother of france, the proud wife of Louis XIV. Some months later she was, expectantly chosen as wife for the heir of the france throne and she left her mother country never to come back again.

The living organism's existence is  beautifully miraculous and mysterious. It exerts most supernatural forces when needed and shows stages of mind so distinguished and sophisticated. To analyze my whole theory,  humans beings are the most  unevolved creature in the field of general ecosystem. The  following reading would explain how I was lead to that conclusion. While reading the article of an paralyzed dog climbing a mountain, and with all the thousand of people hailing it, it sounded hilarious. The dog would have known that it had the potential to climb the mountain even with it's paralyzed legs but of course lending the help of human technology.  However, that dog's not the only case. Humans are always rocking the society mad whenever one discovers another characteristic of an certain type of an animal. When the human-faced fish was discovered, the internet was practically busted with informations about them. Nature hides more than it reveals. This statement is true- once applied to the human beings. All the animals knew everything of the ecosystem by common instinct when once born, but the human's infant is a complete white head. Humans need experience to know, while in the process have perils most constantly. We humans may be better at the perspective of technology, but in the more important filed of survival, the animals are a few steps ahead of us.

The last leaf

I read a book named 'The last leaf'. It's the book of O henry. It's about a girl named Johnsy. She was caught in disease. She had a friend named Sue. They lived together. One day doctor camed and told Sue that Johnsy has almost no hope to live when she don't get a positive mind. Johnsy believed that she will die when the all leaves are gone. So she counted the leaves everyday. Sue was very sad about it and told to Johnsy that she should get more positive mind but she didn't. One day, Sue went to Behrman to draw him. He heard a strory of Johnsy and he thought about it and he got a good idea. Next day, Johnsy woke up and saw there was a last leaf on the wall. Next day, there was a last leaf again in the wall. Johnsy thought she was bad because even that leaf live in that strong wind, she thought she would die. And she became normal again. Next day, Johnsy and Sue heard a story about the Behram's death. And they heard that the last leaf was his picture.

I was sad when I read this story. I think that Behram is so poor. He died because of Johnsy. Also, I don't like Johnsy. When she had a positive mind and thoughts at first, Behram would not died. But he will be happy in the heaven about the fact that Johnsy lived because of his picture. I think that leaf is the beautifulsit picture ever. It's beautiful appearance but it also has very kind thoughts and minds.

I read an artical about a paralyzed dog climbing a mountain. Dog's name is Lucy. Lucy is 4 year old and she became paralyzede because of the car accident four years ago. Even though she was handicapped she always trained and she finally became the first paralyzed dog ever to scale the 6,288-foot peak.
I was kind of shocked about this fact. It's really hard for paralyzed to do that thing. Even handicapped people have difficulties, but it's really suprising because it's a dog, not a person.

News ans views -Maggie the Margaret

It is almost hilarious or perfectly disgusting when I first finished reading the article. It's not every day when we see an old grandpa in his eighties finding a wife from Korea. Now when thinking about the matter more seriously, it seemed more natural then when I first read the article. We all know that old people usually go back to their adolescent stage-men in their eighties and women in their seventies. This is just another grandfather going back to his fresh old days, when everything was so bright and adventurous. Also, I admire how the grandfather had fallen to my country. Truthly speaking, I never though my country as standing out from all the thousands of others. Maybe that's because I live here and know it better than some other people. I am pleased that our country's culture had fascinated him, which had triggered him to have an Korean wife.

However, in conclusion it was a hilarious article.

Da Vinci's secret-Maggie the Margaret

Da vinci is a genius. But he is also the luckiest man in the whole world. He knew that and wished to tell thee whole world of his luck. So here are the secrets of Da vinci's geniusity.
The first swimsuit.
: Da vinci had just finished making a sculpture which he had fussed over for months and years. It's features were remarkably clear, and it suited the very topic of an master piece. Jumping in joy he scampered all through the town celebrating his work when suddenly his sculpture fell in a deep pond. With out farther thought, Da vinci dived in . However long he looked and dived, he ws not able to see the sculpture. He wanted to go deeper, but he would always be short of air. So when he miserably trotted back home he had an idea. After tearing down his curtains he made the first swimsuit in all history.

Monarisa
: Da vinci had a new model whom he though was perfect to draw. He seated her and started to draw in great care, blessing every stroke. It might have been a joyful time for Da vici, but for the model she was in prefect agony. She had been seating in a same position for hours on end and was getting desperate. She kept a tiny watch between her forefinger and would peer in to it as every hour had passed. When she figured out that there was only five minutes left and peered in to her watch again, worried that Da vinci hadn't finished yet. When Da vici saw her he said,' Don't worry dear lady. The work would be done on time.' The model was too embarrassed to speak, and she smiled. And the quick Da vinci captured this and this is the mysterious smile that people fuss about today.

Many people say that the dead ones look down from the hole in the sky and look after there loved ones. This I never truly believed, because  without super unnatural eyesight, how would the spirits see us from that high above? I had always doubted it and the book 'If I stay' gave me and different option of the spirit's looking after.

Biography Jane Goodall -Jordan-

If people are at least a little bit interested in animals or zoology, they would have heard the name Jane Goodall.
Jane Goodall was born in London in England in 1934 April. Because her father joined the World War2, her family moved to her grandmother's house. When the war was over, the father came back. When she graduated high school, she was hired as a secretary.Later, she got an invitation from her old friend so she got a chance to go to Africa which was one of her dream. When she got ther, she met Dr.Ricky and she studied about chimps with him. For better studies about chimps, she went to the national park. Then she announced that chimpanzees could use tools just as humans do.
In 1971 she published her first book named "In the Shadow of Man". 6years later, she built JGIwhich was a place for her investigation.
While I was reading the biography about her, I felt that she was kind of unique because not so many people are able to be friendly with other animals and they just ignore others unless they are humans. However, I would also like to study about animals, especially chimps if possible. Since chimpanzees are one of the creatures that have highest intellegence, it wouldn't be too hard to get close to them. Plus, I saw some picutres of Jane Goodall and chimpanzees playing with each other. Even though most of chimpanzees are ungly and dangerous, it would be nice to know more about chimpanzees and be friendly to them.

No talking Jordan

Some species of animals were being more rare in park. Muir Woods National Monument turned a place named Cathedral Grove into an extremely quiet place. People who visit there aren't even able to talk. The reason why they made these kinds of rules is because if animals in park listen to sound that is made by human, they consider it as a sound of their predator. So, those animals can be affected by those sounds. Rangers at Muir Woods also eliminated garbages so that when they are removing the trash and garbages, they don't make sound. The vehicles are powered by electricity to make it quieter than cars which are powevered by gas. Around the entrance somewhere, there is a machine that can detect the noise from visitors.
I think that animals are too sensitive.

The last leaf-Maggie the margaret

I had always admired the way how Charles Dickens wrote his short stories. Until now, I had read 'After twenty years' 'Withes loaves' 'The ransom of red chief' and 'The Last Leaf'. They are all simply quite lovely with meanings and phrases of emotion. The last leaf was a book that showed love, care and death.

In the street of Greenwich somewhere, two young lively artists meet and start blossoming the flower of friendship. As both of them were just aspiring artists, they decided to live together and to support each other for their dreams. Then, one of them falls fatally sick and needs to rest. Feeling lost of being deprived of her joy for painting, she folds up all her hopes and decided to accept her early timed death. The pother friend, deeply heart broken by the condition of her friend, does everything she could do to lighten the days up, but the only thing the friend would do was to call her death nearer, as casually as if she was asking for a cup of tea or a pair of warm slippers. Depressed and scared of the thought of losing her friend, she goes to her neighbour and asks him if he could help. The doctor had said that only the patient's will to live could blow life back to her and nothing else- and the sick friend had given up everything, and she was now counting th leaves on a vine up the wall, believing that when the last leaf falls, she would go too. That night, a furious storm blew up, and the last leaf fell down in the dead of night. But there was another last leaf, that never even slightly moved even in the most ferocious winds or rains. It was there on the wall exactly where the last leaf had been, carefully drawn by the old man himself. The sick girl regained her hopes to live and every day her soul was regaining the light she had lost. But God's always fair. The world is give and take. Instead of taking the sick girl's soul god had taken away the old man's. After spending the whole night in the rain, the old man was too weak to stand illness and had passed away. But his love and care for the girl remained, inside the drawing of the last leaf.

Biography Abraham Lincoln-Maggie the Margaret

Somewhere in washington B. C there's a statue of a man carefully carved out of white stone. A determined square face, body, straight and proud, and with posture he took, he looked like a sophisticated old gentleman but something about him was majestic. A fine suit was draped over such fine body, and upon the body sat a face with the look of power and strictness combined with a slight flavor of kindness. Yes. It was Abraham Lincoln. The Abraham Lincoln, once president of United States. The white stone was a statue of him, and from head to foot he was covered in grace and charisma, and his sharp eyes seemed to tell the story of the era of the Lincolns.

Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin in Kentucky to Thomas and Nancy Lincoln. He farmed corn and barely with his father and work he did. He and his father were up at the first streak of daylight and back at the dead of night. However, because the father didn't fancy living in a certain place for long, the family moved to Indiana and 8 year old Abe helped his father build another log house. A year later his mother died and the house was very empty. There was an older sister who was eleven, but she wasn't able to make a living. Besides, the kids were just children. So his father remarried an old friend and in addition to his sister Sarah, who was 3 years older, there were now 3 more children in the family.

The once empty house was again filled with light and joy of the coming of new family. Lincoln's new mother started to send her children to school, and lincoln was able to receive education again- for a while. Soon, farming season came and that was the last time he ever to put his foot on school soil. However, as Lincoln despised working, he knew that the only thing to get out of his misery was to study and then to lead a better life. By the time he was 17, he knew he wanted to be a lawyer. He would walk 17 miles to the county courthouse in order to watch the lawyers work. He sat in the back of the courtroom and watched them as they shook their fists and became red in the face. Then he would go home and think about what he had seen.

Abraham grew to become a fruity bouncy young man, and his strong features attracted many employers. He was hired many jobs until he had options and the right to choose. Every time he got a new job he would try to work on a skill which would help him when he became a lawyer. When he was a shopkeeper he tried to be honest and fair. Once he shortchanged a woman by 6 cents, and he followed her home so he could give the money back to her. When he was a postmaster, he tried to learn how to get along with people well. When he was a surveyor a person who measured land, he tried to always be accurate in his measurements. With all his experience, Abraham was changing into a young the worker to Abraham the knowledge. He also trained himself to become a good debater and a speaker. After a hard day of chopping woods, he would stand on the wood pile and recite poems or phrases he had heard. But even with his popularity and success as a worker, he still wanted to be a lawyer. He would go without sleep in order to study. He would borrow books from a neighbor in the evening, read them by the light of the fireplace, and take them back in the morning. In 1836 he passed the test and became a lawyer.

In Abraham life he had a lot of miseries as many deaths approached him and took his loved ones away. This waves of sadness evolved him to grow into a hard, determined tree, which later helped him to achieve the title of president. His mother, soon-to be married bride died quite suddenly, and he lost many elections. When he did become president, he had other problems waiting for him. He was never able to see his attempt to stop slavery starting to act, as he was assassinated by a person who strongly went against his political values. However, his contribution to America's history had inspired him as a great figure and there he sits, somewhere in the streets of Washington D. C.

News&Views-Olivia

I read a news about the smallest man in the whole world. His name is Junrey Balawing and he is 17 years old, but he is just 56 cm. And after his 18th birthday, he will be added in Guinness World Records as the smallest man in the world. He said it will be cool to be the smallest man in the world. He has difficulty in walking and get pain when he standing up for too long. His mother noticed he was different from other children but docters couldn't help it. According to her, Junrey Balawing, the smallest man in the world were always sick and wasn't growing. However, doctors didn't know what was wrong. He needs care of every minutes, but he smiles and get pride of the fact that he is the smallest man in the whole, big world.

First when I read this news I was suprised about the photo of the smallest man. In the photo, he is next to the bottle, but he is just little bit taller than this bottle. He was same size as babies. My dog is longer than 50 cm, so my dog will be same size as that man or even bigger! I can't think about that person. He is looking like baby except his face. He looks like small doll in my house. It sounds cool to become a smallest person in the world, but he will have lot's of difficulties. He should have someone's special care to do everything. But I was happy about the fact he was proud of himself. Lot's of people want to grow up when they are short, especially, when they are really really short. But he wasn't having bad feelings about his length and he was very positive. I hope that I could think like him.

I read news named 'girls go to the mat'. It is about female wrestler. There is a female wrestler named
Cassy Herkelman. Last week, she became the first female wrestler to qualify in Iowa's state tournament in age 14. It's hard for girls to win the boys. Even they weigh same, boys weight will tend to come from muscle. For this reason, most states do not have enough athletes to start girls-only programs. Also, on Saturday a girl named Rachel Hale became one of the few female wrestlers to win US state title in age15. Her coach said she look like a wrestler not a female and Aaron Roucoulet said she, Rachel Hale has the best technique.

I agree about the fact that boys are better wrestlers. They have much stronger muscles and power than girls. It will be easy for them to win girls. I think this is why girls do not wrestle because they know it's hard for them to win boys. I hope that there would be tournament just for gilr wrestlers. Then, it will be fair for gilrs, and lot's of girls, all over the world will start to wrestle. Then wrestling will become as a sport not just for boys but also for girls.

Reinhold Messner was born in 1944 in Italy. Since when he was very young, he was excited in mountain. So he often climbed up mountains with his father. When he was a little older, he was beginning to climb mountain with his younger brother. Messner was actually talented in climbing. One day, Messner got bored of just climbing the peaks of the Alps. Then he decided to climb mountains in Himalaya. He decided to climb the 14mountains. Each of them is more than 8000m.
He decided to climb a mountain named Nanga Parbat which was one of those 14mountains. There was an extremely tragical accident. He was suggested by a doctor to climb the Naga Parbat. He was sad to be separated with his brother, but later, his brother was also suggested. Then, they succeeded to get to the peak of the mountain. When they were coming down, the surrounding suddenly got dark. His brother kept getting tired. So they had to take a rest. Even though it was the next morning, his brother didn't get better. So they just went. Messener was being farther from his brother, because the brother was limping.
He was thirsty so he just ran toward to find water. When he did find water, drank it, and turned around, his brother was gone. Then an avalanche occured. He was very scared, because his brother was shut in the pile of snow. From that time, he was sad to hear somebody talking about the accident.
When he got older, he decided to climb Mount. Everest. But, his aim was different from those of other people. He decided to climb the mountain without oxgen supplier. Others tried to stop him, but eventually he succeeded with his friend.
Now, he is recorded as a man who firstly climbed the 14mountains and climb the Mount.Everest with out oxygen suppliers. I think that his perseverance was extremely applaudable.

News and Views -Big family- JoRdAn

Zlona Chana  is head of the largest family in the world. He has 39wives, 94children, 14 daugthers-in law (?)and 33grandchildren. In total, he has 180 family members. They live in 100 rooms in 4 floor house. In addition, each meal, they spend 30chickens, 60kilograms of potatoes, and 100kilos of rice. It means that they would have to spend extremely lots of money just on having their meal.
I think that 180 family member is incredibly large family. Long time ago, in korea one person could have lots of wives, too. However, I think 39wives are too much. Plus, how would a person be able to lead 180people and live in one house? It would be very confusing. You might call your dautgher as your wife. Remembering their name will also be one of the hardest work that you have.  Lastly, having 39wives are gross. Every single day, wives will have fight with eachother. Their children will also be said to have lots of mothers and siblings who belong to different mother!
In conclusion, maybe big family wouldn't be boring because every minute, you will be busy talking with one of the family members. However, the bigger the family is, the more confliction they would have with each other.

Ziona Chana's family is the biggest family in the world. He has 39 wives, 94 children, 14 daughters in law and 33 grandchildren. They live in four floor house with 100 rooms. They eat 30 chickens, 60 kg of potatoes and 100 kg of rice.

When I first read it I felt so amazing. I can't think how they remember all of these 180 family's name. I think I can't even when I'm of the family member. They have lot's of work to do. People should clean 100 rooms and cook for 180 people. It will cost lot's and lot's of money to feed them. I hope that I will never live in that kind of house. It might be fun, but I think I can't memorize 180 names and I will get sick when I look that family.

Mother

You will remember the time when you first saw me
I had to open my eyes to see you coming
I had to open my ears to hear you humming
And I had to open the gate
To go inside of your fence of love

You were always there to greet me
When I reach my fingers
I could touch you
When I barely open my eyes
I could see the light
That made the sky bright

When I was locked in the prison
Your hands were arisen
To save me
From the deadly pain

I could see the wounds on your hand
It looked painful
But you said it’s okay
Because I was with her

Nothing would be done
Without out you
It was all your effort
That made me the most precious one

News&Views - Alan

This article is about overloaded bus, caught by police officer. Following the Chinese Evening news report, the bus was found overloaded by a local traffic warden. When searching the bus, it was found that 44 people were sitting in the even though it was only for 43 people. However, it was not a real problem. When searching the trunk, 7 more people were found. The bus driver was letting everyone because when more people take bus, he will get more profit. Eventually, the bus rider got 12 penalty points and people were taken by other bus.

After reading this article, my first thought was not “it is bad to do that”. It is of course wrong to overload people in the bus, especially in the trunk. It is also really dangerous to do it. There are no safety belt in there, and no actual sits. So getting a 12 penalty point is obvious. However, I really don’t blame about what he did. It is of course illegal to do but I’m quite sure that everyone wants to load more people to get more profits, and that is happening a lot. This article is special because people were in the trunk. I think the driver is very smart, but in bad way. No one would think about people sitting in the trunk. It was really good originality of him. And, my other opinion is, if I have a chance to sit in the trunk of a bus, I really want to sit in the trunk, too!

Biography about Ethan Allen - Alan

This time I chose Ethan Allen for my biography because there is a word “Allen” is his name. So it looked really friendly to me. His biography was not that interesting but it was still fun to read it and to make it funnier, I will write his biography as if I am Ethan Allen.

I was born on January 21, 1738 in Litchfield, Connecticut. I was really tall and strong. My parents were Joseph and Mary Baker Allen and I had eight brothers and two sisters. My family was very religious. However, my father saw my love of books and intelligence, and sent me to Yale.

After, war broke out between England and France and my brothers took over the farm. I joined the military in 1757 to defend Fort William Henry against the French. After the war was over, I went into the business of making kettles and married Mary Brownson. I moved to the New Hampshire Grants in 1769 and was named Colonel Commandant of the Green Mountain Boys. When rumors of a revolution spread, I fully supported the movement. I led the force that took Fort Ticonderoga on May 10, 1775. After that, I was elected out of command of the Green Mountain Boys.

I served in Canada against Montgomery's army. During an early attack on Montreal on September 25, 1775, I was, so sadly, captured. I was identified as a captor of Fort Ticonderoga, and was sent to England. Government voted against hanging me, fearful of the colonies reaction, and returned me to America. I was then paroled in New York City and with the financial help from my brother, lived quite comfortably. Later I was sent to prison for parole violation.

After being exchanged for a British prisoner, I was sent to Valley Forge as a guest of George Washington in May of 1778. On May 14, 1778 I was given the position of Colonel for loyalty, courage and strength. I was a hero to the people of Vermont for I persistence and patience. I died on February 12, 1789. Two years later Vermont was named the 14th state.

News&Views 7found hiding in bus luggage hold

On February 13, 2011, police officer found out that 7 people was hiding in the bus luggage hold. The bus driver told that lot's of passengers make more benefits. Police officer gave him 12 penalty points on his driving license.

I think it is too dangerous. People can die inside the bus luggage hold. They have no seat belts, it's dark and it's hard to breath because it's small inside the bus luggage hold. Police officers should check it because it can make lot's of people in danger and that bus driver should go to jail than giving him 12 penalty points on his driving license. I hope that this thing would not happen again.

Now these days many people are usinf the SMART phones. Not only adults but students too.Now I'm going to tell the" GOOD effects of using SMART phones to students"that I just read about.

Smart learning is a convinent learning based on mobility, and users don’t have to carry textbooks, notebooks, a dictionary and pens as in the past. It’s enough with just one hand held device.
Smart learning is the latest version of the learning method that is based on Information Technology (IT). Previously, e-learning, or electronic learning which enabled learning without being in the same location as the teacher, and m-learning, or mobile learning which focused on mobility both existed but didn’t really take off. Smart learning is the completed version of these, maximizing effectiveness in learning by using mobile devices.

Now in my veiws about this article, I think the SMART phones will just give distractions while they are studing because SMART phones has many other things you can do rather studing with it.

Egyptians Demand Change -Jordan-

Egyptians was protesting that Mubarak should end his presidency since he has benn ruling for 30years.  Mubarak said that he would spend his last seven months of presidency in overseeing transition to a new government to address pretesters' demands.
Egyptians don't enjoy the freedoms and rights that Americans do, such as freedom of speaking and peacefully protesting. Even though Mubarak was elected four times, nobody has been able to run against him.
Protesters wanted to elect freely. They  also hoped to get new job opportunites. 9.4percent of Egyptians don't have jobs. It's similar to the United States, because 9.1percent of U.S.A population is unemplyed.
I think that it doesn't matter whether Mubarak was president for 30years or not. The actual problem is that it didn't worth 30years of the dictatorship. In conclusion, he had to do the job that worths 30years of presidency since he has been president for 30years.

News and views about KTX-Olivia

KTX got derailed in Friday. It was going to Seoul from Busan. There was no one get hurt. And Korea Railroad Official said that they will found out the exact cause of the accident.
I think Korea Railroad Official should give a money to the people in the KTX train and they should check one more time before the train goes. So Korea Railroad Official have a fault about this accident. But also it was just an accident so people in the train should understand it than ask them to give them a money. I hope that this kind of accident will not happen again.

Thomas Jefferson Alan

Thomas Jefferson was the Third President of United States, a writer, well known personality in the field of education who established University of Virginia, historian, philosopher and a social activist. He was born on April 13, 1743, at Shadwell, Virginia to Peter Jefferson.

Thomas was a very good writer, and as he was practicing law, he wrote political articles. The articles written by him brought popularity not only in Virginia, but he also became known outside of the Virginia, too. His political work related to 'Rights of British America' was one of the famous pamphlets written by him. As Thomas was a good writer and a member of the Continental Congress, he was chosen as one of the authors to draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776. (I hate learning about Declaration of Independence. It drives me crazy!)

After 1776, Thomas left Congress and served in the legislature in Virginia for couple of years. After three years in 1784, Thomas became Trade Commissioner in France and was nominated as Benjamin Franklin's successor as minister. (Benjamin Franklin! I hate history!) He served on his post for few years and also took deep interest in learning European culture.

Near 1790 Thomas had gained a prominent position in politics and was being considered for higher-level posts. In 1790 he was selected for the post of Secretary of State. After six years in 1796, Thomas filled his nomination for the presidential seat from the Democratic Republicans but he lost the seat to John Adams by 3 votes and was offered the post of Vice-President. (So poor :C) During his term as Vice-President, Thomas worked towards achieving the presidential seat and after four years, he again filled his nomination for the same. This time he was successful in defeating Adams and was selected third President of United States. (yeah!)

Thomas Jefferson descended from the post of President in 1809. After end of his presidential term he lived in his house 'Monticello' for about seventeen years before his death. Thomas knew the importance of education and wanted to establish one University to fulfill his wish, so he planned the University of Virginia. It is said that Thomas designed the buildings and even marked the place where those were to be built. He even selected books for the library of the University and designed the curriculum. The school was opened in 1825 with about 40 students and he even served as first rector in it.

Thomas Jefferson died on 4 July 1826 when he was eighty-three years old, fifty years after the acceptance of Declaration of Independence draft.

The reason I chose him was because he wrote the Declaration of Independence. I was searching Declaration of Independence, and Thomas Jefferson popped out. At first, I was reading the article because it looked so boring but it was so interesting to know about him. The most interesting part was that he made the University of Virginia. I didn’t know about the University of Virginia so I thought it was the university that nation built. Also, I didn’t know that he was the vice president when Adam was president. I think this biography taught me a lot of things.

North Korea, Imprisoning People News and Views alan

This is a picture that was taken in Pyeong yang, North Korea last month. People who disagree with the North Korea’s political system or watch the South Korea’s drama and movie were captured and imprisoned here. There are dozens of monitors in the room, watching people in the small room. There are a lot of men in the room, bending their knees and putting heads down. There are women in the other room. If they talk or move a little, it is told to them that they will be punished and hit severely. One who escaped from the prison said he got assaulted for about 5 minutes but he was bleeding death. Since South Korea has the lack of food and living necessity, more and more people started to protest so the regulation has been enforced.

However, I don’t think they are actually poor. I feel sorry for one who died, but it is how the government of North Korea is made. Before thinking they are poor my first thought was the government should change, not the dictatorship but to democracy. I believe that is the only way to revive that country and improve the economy and unless, no one will think North and South should be united.

News and views. More Burgers and Less Bombs

It had been historically known that the US and Russia wasn't on the top lists in alliance. Instead, they were constantly on conflicts and debates, opening the gap between the two government. This could be a depending unfortune for the neighboring counterparts, as US and Russia are both powerful countries in our global society, and getting meddled up in their business could be a rough ride.

Recently, the US and Russia had internationally demonstrated a pledge to reset the relationship between the two countries and to build a sturdy friendship. Both governments had decided to turn their backs on and ignore the past, trying to remodel the countries's future. Even though it took several months for the US Senate and Russia's Federal Assembly to approve to the treaty and clear the news, it was a great relief for everybody that the past ordeals would stay past.

The main reason why everyone was on the bright side on the treaty was because both countries had powerful forces and arms- including Nuclear Bombs. Of course, not every citizen would want a bomb to fly over his head, and by full fledgling the treaty, it meant standing unuse of the bombs. In addition to give an final illustration of the title, the citizens were mightly pleased to see their president s sitting side by side devouring chips and burgers!

I think it amusing for us and for the citizens to see the heads stirring the country in to bad and good days. This incident is one of the most cometic piece of article, and I wish the good start ends good.

Biography Jean-Henri Fabre -Jordan-

Fabre was born in Fance in 1823. He was born in  a rural district and his family was very poor. All he had was just a house. He wanted to attend a school, but there wasn't any school in countryside. So he went to a city to attend school.
Even though he was old enough, he stiill couldn't read. One day, he got a book with lots of pictures in it, and from ther, he learned how to read. He was married to a woman who was 2years older than himself when he was only 21. They had a daughter who lived no longer than 10months. Next, they had a son who barely lived for about 1year.
Later, he decided to earn money. He though of earning money from getting a madder experimenting with it. So, he studied a madder for 12years. Then he succeeded the experiment. However, there was a news saying that a German scientists has developed the way to compound the technology of a madder. So, Fabre was frustrated.
When he was old, he wrote Souvenirs entomologiques, which is all about insects and some things like that.
Then he died when he was 92. I actually respect him very much because, thanks to him, we can learn lots of interesting facts about insects from the book he wrote.

A Single Shard-Lina

Tree-ear was named for a "mushroom that grows without benefit of parents" by Crane Man who was so called because of his one shriveled leg. No one knows where Tree-ear came from. Rumor had it that his parents were killed in an accident. In order to survive Tree-ear rummages through garbage dumps and scavenges for food every day and if he is lucky he is able to pick up some left over rice that no one wants. Crain man, who is a straw weaver, tries to do his part but because of his disability he is only able to manage some scavenging near the rivers edge where they live. Crane-man is the only family Tree-ear has ever known.Tree-ear made a habit of stopping at potter Min's outdoor studio to watch him create delicate celadon pottery. One day Tree-ear accidentally breaks a pot. In order to pay for damages, Tree-ear goes into servitude for nine days and ends up working full time for the potter. Naturally Tree-ear hopes Min will teach him the pottery trade but Min has no intention of training a boy who is not related to him. Min and Tree-ear begin a precarious relationship. This is a well-developed account of triumph of a boy who shouldn't have overcome the odds but did.

When I read this first page of book I thought this book would be boring, but actually this book had a lot of sad things made me emotional.

But, he was self -complacency. Next, he built a company named PIXAR. He made lots of animation there such as Toy Story, Finding Nimo, and  Monsters Inc. In 1997, he came back to apple company. He likes to make anything creative. The results of his creation are those famous animations, iPod, iPhone, and iPad. I think he is very great. For example, Alan, my sister, and I have iPods. Plus, mr. H also has iPhone!! Now, extremely lots of people are using i-- something.

News and Views Alan

I will only write my views on this since Lina said the summary of the article (^o^). I think it is really good to have this restriction. By having this kind of law, the number of smokers will decrease and that will make people healthier. However, I think making this law is too late. A lot of people are smoking right now, in every second. A lot of people are getting cancer in every second. A lot of second smoker (including me, smells really bad!) are getting a lot of stress but government is restricting it now. It is too late. Too many people got hurt from it. It is not only problem but the second is how can they stop it. There is no way to check everywhere. Some smoke in the washroom and some smoke at night.

So my conclusion is the idea is good but it is not practical. However, my personal question is who made cigarettes and why did he make it. It doesn’t smells god and it is not good for health. Eeeaaww… my father.. he smells bad.

No more smoking in Seoul -Jordan-

Soon, smokers who are in Seoul won't be able to smoke in main squares of the city. Banning somking will start having effect on March 1, which affects three main squares. This is to reduce the side effects of smoking in public place. If they somke in the area that is forbidden, they will have to pay a fine of hundred thousand won which is about 90 dollars. I think this is ok because if we smoke in public places, it can harm lots of other people. For example, if we smoke in park, it can not only damage humans but also damage the environment of the park. So I think forbidding smoking in main squares are appropriate.

Alan Biography

The reason that I choose this person for my biography is because Oscar was the actor in my favorite drama Secret Garden.

Oscar Wilde was born in Dublin on 16 October 1854. He was educated at Portora Royal School, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Trinity College, Dublin and Magdalen College, Oxford. While at Oxford, he became involved in the aesthetic movement and became an advocate for 'Art for Art's Sake'. Whilst at Magdalen, he won the 1878 Newdigate Prize for his poem Ravenna. On May 29, 1884, Oscar married Constance Lloyd. They had two sons, Cyril and Vyvyan (what a strange name^^). To support his family, Oscar accepted a job as the editor of Woman's World magazine, where he worked from 1887-1889. Wilde's greatest talent was for writing plays. His first play, 'Lady Windermere's Fan,' opened in February 1892. He produced a string of extremely popular comedies including 'A Woman of No Importance', 'An Ideal Husband' and 'The Importance of Being Earnest'(we read this!). These plays were all highly acclaimed and firmly established Oscar as a playwright. Upon his release in 1897, he wrote “The Ballad of Reading Gaol”, revealing his concern for inhumane prison conditions. He spent the rest of his life wandering Europe, staying with friends and living in cheap hotels. He died of cerebral meningitis on November 30, 1900, penniless, in a cheap Paris hotel.

No more smoking ins Seoul-Olivia

Korean government made a law, people cannot smoke in three main squares-Seoul Plaza, Cheongyecheon Plaza and Gwanghwamun Plaza. This law is from March. If some one smoke, they should give a fine of 100,000won.  Also, Seoul city plans to make 321 public spaces as non-smoking areas.
I think Korean people will stop smoking when this laws are allowed. Because Korean people like money and they don't want to give a fine. I think some people will smoke even this laws are made, but they will stop smoking after they give a fine. I think this laws are good for Korean people's health, public space users, Korea's three main squares, and Korea's nature.

News and views -Lina

Smokers in Seoul will no longer be able to light up in the city’s main squares under the toughened anti-cigarette ordinance taking effect next month, the city council said Friday. It was a pretty good news for me but maybey not the smokers.

As part of its public awareness campaign, the city government said it will set up warning signs around the squares by the end of this month and give a three-month notification period. When the grace period ends on June 1, those who smoke in the prohibited area will be slapped with a fine of 100,000 won ($90), it noted.

The Seoul city also plans to designate a total of 321 public spaces as non-smoking areas within this year, adding 23 city parks by September and 295 major bus stations by December, officials said.

The new ordinance was passed by the city council last October following the passage of an anti-smoking law at the parliament, which orders regional governments to implement anti-smoking policies to make it more difficult for people to smoke in public places.

In my views of this news I think it's good that the governments are highering the price to 100,000 won but in the view for the smokers hmmmm kind of unfotunate....

Harriet Tubman -Lina

Harriet Tubman was born around 1820 in Maryland. Her parents were slaves, so she also was a slave when she was born. She had to work even when she was a little child. When she was twelve years old, she suffered a serious injury when an overseer threw a heavy weight which hit her in the head. After that incident she slept a lot. This condition remained with her the rest of her life. People with narcolepsy will suddenly fall asleep wherever they happen to be.Harriet was afraid she was going to be sold and sent to the South, so she decided to run away. A white neighbor gave her some names of people she could contact to help her. She was about to escape through the Underground Railroad. The people who traveled with the slaves to help them escape were called "conductors". During a forty year period about 100,000 slaves escaped from the South through the Underground Railroad. Harriet made nineteen trips as a "conductor", risking her life every time, and successfully freed about 300 slaves. She carried a gun and threatened any slave who wanted to turn back.During the Civil War Harriet worked for the Union Army. Sometimes she worked as a cook, sometimes she served as a nurse, and even worked as a spy! After the war she returned to her home in Auburn, New York. Harriet Tubman died at the age of 93. After her death she received many honors. A ship was named for her; the Liberty Ship Harriet Tubman, and in 1995 the federal government issued a commemorative postage stamp in her honor.

Book review MarGaret

Margaret-2011-2-5

The book 'The sisterhood of the traveling pants' is about how four different teenage girls spend their vacations in different locations and people. It is their first vacation apart and they use the Jeans to support them, whatever happens. Each girl experiences a rambling holiday with love and pain and death.

The book is about how the four girls Lena, Bridget, carmen and Tibby spent their holiday.  Lena went  to her grandmothers house and for the first time meets her grandfather. She wasn't able to speak Greek so was unable to open a conversation, but she wasn't in bad terms with her grandfather. She even found out that her unique small nose was inherited from her grandfather. She also met a boy named Kostos and fell in love. Bridget went  to a summer athletic camp and met her coach Eric. Even though he was  older than her by four years, she still fell in love with him. Carmen went to meet her father who had a divorce with her mother. She was grief-stricken when she found  out that her father was remarrying another women with two kids. She ran away and then came  back again when she had finally understood her father. Lastly, Tibby worked  at store called Wallsmen and met another girl who had leukemia. They made a lot of good memories and shortly after Tibby's pet died,  The girl Tibby met died too.

Even though the story it self doesn't have a meaning, the pants itself does. Whenever the girls were doing something the pants were there to encourage them and give support. Each girl thought of it as magic pants and that all their friends were with them while they were wearing it. The pants expresses the teenager's mind that wishes to always to be with friends.

The Book is for teenagers. Not only teenagers but for senior teenagers. I myself is not at the level so wasn't able to comprehend the story. Usually all teenager books are about love between boys and girls. This typical format makes the book quite meaningless and in addition, every single teenager book about the same thing. Only the characters' names are different. However, if younger generations improve faster in their development, the teenager books won't be for teenagers- it could be for young people also. If that happened the former lines would not have existed.

koreans eating less rice-lina

Statistics show that Koreans are now eating 20 kilograms less rice than they did in 2000, when households averaged 93.6 kilograms in annual consumption.
Even though rice is the main meal for koreans, koreans are tring to get more quick and convienent food.

The figures show that an increasing number of people are choosing alternatives to rice, such as bread, instant noodles, pre-cooked rice, cereals among others, for their daily meals. An increasing number of people are also eating less rice due to health reasons or attempting to lose weight,’’ said an official from Statistics Korea’s welfare statistics division.

The governments said that 72.8 kilograms of rice consumed by the average Korean last year, 71.3 kilograms, or 97.9 percent, were used in daily meals. Rice used for making ``tteok,’’ or Korean traditional rice cakes, snacks and other food products accounted for 1.4 kilograms in the annual consumption, up from last year’s 1.2 kilograms

Now in my conclusion I don't think that koreans are being lazy sothat  they are eating  instant foods I think that we are too BUSY. I think from stopping to eat rice for a diet would be a stupid thing because rice have many nutruiants.

well personally I don't like rice too!

New and views-Margaret-THERE'S SNOW EVERY WHERE!

The article was a good timing  article, as it is winter now and it matches the season. The article attracted me for this reason and also because the title said that there was snow everywhere, and as korea didn't have  much snow this year, I was curious to know if the other countries winter was fine. However, the article didn't contain a lot of information. The page was made of three pictures and about three lines, concerning each picture it was under. I was baffled, because of the emptiness of the article, and felt disappointed too. Firstly, because the title had a mistake saying about that snow was every where, and not almost everywhere, I thought that snow would not just mean plain snow, but would have a another meaning. Then it hit me. The message given was very beautiful. The snow, meant one. Almost every country has snow, and the snow's definition contains the word, pure. I think the author was trying to deliver a message called, 'there's world's pure love every where! we are all one!' And I was fascinated of how the reporter blend his real intention with something typical.

Anne Frank ALAN

I can remember myself reading this book when I was little. At that time, I was only second grade student so I didn’t know what the meaning of this book. It was just a boring journal. However, after I read this again, my thought started to change and now I think what the main idea that the books is trying to tell.
First, for the person who doesn’t know the summary of this book, let me tell you the brief outline of the story. On her thirteenth birthday, Anne’s parents give her a diary. She’s excited because she wants someone, or something, in which to confide all of her secret thoughts. Even though she has a rich social life, she feels misunderstood by everyone she knows. Anne starts writing about daily events, her thoughts, school grades, boys, and everything. But, a month later, her entire life changes.

As Jews in German occupied Holland, the Frank family fears for their lives. When Anne’s sister is called to appear before the authorities, which would almost surely mean she was being sent to a concentration camp, Anne and her family go into hiding. They move into a little section of Anne's father's office building that is walled off and hidden behind a bookcase. Luckily, the Franks have tons of reading material and a radio. Anne grows in her knowledge of politics and literature, and she puts tons of energy into studying and writing. At the same time, she grows further and further away from the other members of the Annex.

Another big change for Anne happens when the war seems to be ending. She hears that personal accounts such as her diary will be in demand after the war ends. We see a return to her earlier optimism as she begins editing her diary with vigor and excitement. Unfortunately, this does not last. Even and Anne becomes more and more sensitive to the suffering going on in the world, her own suffering becomes unbearable. She feels completely alone. She thinks everyone hates her. She feels constantly criticized. And there is no escape. At one point, she thinks it might have been better if she and her family had all died instead of hiding in the Annex. As Anne becomes harder on those around her, she also becomes harder on herself, berating herself for being mean to the other members of the Annex.

At last, as you probably already know, Anne and the other members of the Annex were sent to various concentration camps. Anne's father, Otto Frank, was the sole survivor.

I think Anne Frank he a girl who is imitable for everyone. She didn’t lose her hope despite the fact that the war is happening in front of her. There is no hope that people can survive in the war unless they are the winner. If I were born in that situation, I probably would lose hope and spend a day with sadness and tears. It is not allowed to make noise and it is not allowed to go out. The life at there has to be as if no one is living there and that was her life. It is so cruel. I am nothing; this is what I will think if I am in the war However, instead of getting frustrated she didn’t let her hope go runaway. In the book called “hope for the flowers” the caterpillars underwent every single pain and she became a butterfly at last. I think Anne is that caterpillar. In this book, she had a war, which is the pain that caterpillar had and hop and she coped with them. So it is now the stage to be a butterfly, and the butterfly in this book means the true winner. Even though she was sent to the concentration camp, she didn’t lose her hope and that is the true winner of the war.

“I still believe it. Everyone is actually kind” this is what she wrote before she died. How wonderful is it! Human is actually kind, but the society around him or her make that person evil: I think this is what she meant. But I can’t believe this was the writing of hers. How can a only 15 years old girl can think like that? I not sure this means she forgave everyone even the person who tried to kill her and her family but it still surprised me. I think the war in front of her made her more mature. So I really think that she is imitable figure.

I think this book is very good book for all age. This book tells not only tells the history but it also tells people to treat everyone by love even though that person tried to hurt you.

KOREANS EATING LESS RICE by ALAN

Nowadays, people are having more and more meats and breads rather than rice. According to the statistics, it has been shown that the average of one person's average consumption of rice have dropped 20.8kg.

National Statistical Office, or also called NSO, said there are two main reasons that the average of the rice consumption decreased. The first reason is, as I said, because nowadays people are having meats and breads. I think the reason that people are having bread and meat rather than rice is because they are busier than before. To survive in this harsh society, people have to work harder and more than what they did ten years ago. At that time, people had quite enough time or more than these days to have their own time. However, the world has changed they have to work as much as they can, or sometimes even more than that. Since they have no time, they won't be able to have a meal. So the solution that they choose is to have some breads or other fast food such as burgers. That way, they will be able to reduce their time on having a meal and work more.
Not only that, but the second reason that they are having less rice than before is because they are being lazy. This will be only my thought but since people are working more than before, they will of course want to have more time to rest. Making a meal, it is one of the worst things that people want to do because making a meal also means they have to clean up after the meal and wash a dishes. Finding the method to rest more, they will choose the method that takes the longest time and stop doing that. However we still have to eat so they choose to eat bread.

The second reason that people are having more "alternative food" is because they are trying to lose their weight. Most of the people think because of the rice, which have a lot of carbohydrate, they are gaining more weight. So that’s the reason that people are having bread. However, that fact is not true. Rice is actually one of the diet foods and it help to digest food better.

In short, I think Korean people having less rice will be one of the problems in the near future. I hope that people will eat more rice than these days!

(But I like bread more than rice. It’s so good with yellow butter)

Mrs. Dalloway. - Maggie the Margaret

The book Mrs. Dalloway is the most queerest book I ever read. And how it intended to deliver the author's feelings and arguments was the strangest of all. So slow, yet the meaning was tremendously huge and pain-strickenly true and detailed that it was a wonder that it actually was all filled in to the tiny book, only exceeding one hundred pages.

The content confused and mixed up the reader pretty much. The content it self was quite dull. No plots, No distinctive feelings or words, and no conclusion. The story, when it ended, seemed like the story would just continue, on and on, not in real life but in the imagination of the reader. Because the book didn't have much dialogue but was extremely detailed about the back ground and the character's thoughts, I was able to know where the place was, and what was the character was thinking. But because the book was so much like real person' s thoughts which really went around his head, I was not familiar with the type of book and wasn't much of a expert in following the story's current. So after I read the book, I was dazed and my head felt empty - no content . I couldn't gather my thoughts as my head felt swirly and empty, and when I glanced at the book I knew I had forgotten everything. I felt hollow and desperate to remember the details ,or at least the core of the book. I felt rather gloomy and blue because I knew that wasn't able to find the meaning of the book with out the content. However, after some grumbling and sulking, It HIT ME. The meaning . The book wasn't intending to deliver the meanings while reading the book, but came indirectly, and slowly, and grandly.

The book wasn't written for pleasure- that was clear. And it wasn't focusing
on one certain type of character and telling a story, but overall it seemed like a book full of thoughts and feelings, all gotten mixed up and swimming in the pile of just simple outlines of the story. So What the book showed us was the insight of one's mind and feelings. That's why it all felt so natural-like, but also gave a feeling like the book was alive. I knew that I wasn't able to comprehend the story well, but I hope that some time later, after I had worked on trying to understand thoughts, that I would be able to grasp the true meaning. And as the book troubled me a great deal, I'm strongly wishing for a compensation, which could be ,that the true meaning would be able to satisfy all that waiting.

news and views-Olivia

I read 'healthy cow rush to die'.  It's about the people, waiting at the slaughterhouse with the cows, because they want to kill and sell their cows before they are caught in disease. Lot's of people is waiting at the slaughterhouse all day and even stay there, waiting, all night. Because of this, slaughterhouse killed150 cows, the highest number, they can kill.
I think this cows are so poor. Because in this cows, there are even young ones. I think this cows are so poor but I can still understand cows' owner. They spend lot's of monies on cows, so they want their cows to be killed to eat, because they get less money when cows are killed because of the disease.

Mrs. Dalloway-Lina

Clarissa Dalloway sets out on a beautiful morning; she's shopping for flowers for her party that evening. At the same time in London, a young man is suffering from a nightmarish delayed-onset (the year is 1923) form of shell-shock. Clarissa's nearly-grown daughter is distant, and preoccupied. In the course of one day, Peter, a passionate old suitor, returns from India, there is a suicide, Clarissa relives a day in her youth (and her reasons for her choice of a life with the reliable Richard Dalloway).

London 1923. Clarissa Dalloway is preparing for a party that evening. While the maid is preparing the house, Mrs. Dalloway is going to buy the flowers. On her walk through London she thinks about her youth when she and her friend Sally lived with there parents in Bourton (rural England). There she had a friend Peter Walsh who wanted to marry her. Although she loved him she decided not to marry him but to marry Richard Dalloway. Peter Walsh came back the day before out of India and later that day he calls at her house to talk with her. They still feel a lot for one another. And the rest of that day they both think of the time in Bourton. We also follow Septimus Warren Smith, a veteran of the great war (WOI). This war gave him a very traumatic experience which lead him to kill himself. Then the party starts and she doesn't like it until the party seems to turn right after all.

In the conclusion I think this book is a teenager book(?) becuase there were some things that I couldn't quite understand about. And also this book was pretty okay but also quite hard to understand for me, well after all I think this book was okay.

For healthy cows, a rash to slautghter now days the infected with food diseases.
Now the farmers are worring about the Lunar New year holiday because on that day many koreans eat porks and beefs.Farmers are busy with cheking the Infected food disease rather than selling the beefs and porks.

After the research the reaserchers found out that slaughterhouses killed over 50more cows and pigs than usual.Because that cows and pigs got killed more the beeg prices got 12percent higher because the FMD break out. Now mny of koreans are tring to get american's beefs because it's more cheaper than koreans.

South Korea and the U.S. agreed to a revised free trade agreement on Dec. 3 and although beef was not included in the pact, Washington pressed for the South Korean market to be more open to imports of American beef.

In my veiw of the article is that I hope this FMD thing get over BECAUSE since my parents are social workers they have to stay all night to put chemical supplies on each car that goes on a road to help to not to spread the germs that makes FMD and my parents said it's very hard. Also the pigs and cows are sufforing of death how poor are they???? I hope the Vets invents a medicine to stop this diseases!

Korea vs Australia News and views Alan

Aw……. It was so close! We almost won the game! But we tied. This is what happened yesterday, 2010 January 14th at 10:15. The game started and after 24minutes, Goo Ja Chual made a goal! By Gi Dong Won's assistance, he made the ball to go right in front of the net and he kicked it and it went in! However, in the second half, when Australia was kicking at the corner and the ball flew away Michael John Jedinak hit the ball with head and scored one goal. It was so, em..., when the goal keeper wasn't out that time... Still, it was a good game.

No, actually it was a good game. Korea is 39th and Australia is 26th (in ranking) so it means that if we tied with someone who are better than us, we are improving a lot and there are lots of possibilities that we can win in the next game. But, but if we have won this game, it will be so clear that we are better than Australia and we are the first in our group!

I know it's really short.

NEW AND VIEWS -MAGGIE THE MARGARET-

After reading the article I felt warm feelings of the loving people in the article. The people in the story of the article were really moral models, who indirectly leads life from the shadow to the sun light. The man who volunteered to help after being helped and the people who tried to make life easier and better for the poor, homeless people. However, only after I had felt overswelling warmness towards the acts of generosity had I noticed a tint of guilt. When I calmed down to figure out why this article was so moving , I realized that it was because this kind of act was not happening every day.

Thousands of homeless people had roamed the streets maybe even from the start of history. So it should be, morally , that by now, every homeless people must have had his own story of getting kindness from the people. And helping the homeless should have become part of the daily lifefare , that no one even noticed themselves doing it. But no, this is far from being realistic. People are still doing the same attitude- If I Don't Help, Why The Matter? There Other 6o million People Living On the Earth. So Why Me? - which had apparently not helped to make the situation approve. And so all these really primary kindness is still thought as something really great. This kind of thing should have been like daily life, not being in the article to move people.

Can you turn your back on that integrity and honor? You can’t."

This one phrase had come out of the mouth of one homeless man. He was greatly moved and inspired of the people's generosity and kindness toward him. But sadly, this is a very rare sentence to come out of a poor homeless man.

I really truly wish that one day, we won't be able to read about this things in the newspaper ,but to see for ourselves, and doing our share of it.

Twins celebrate century of sisterhood! They were called Allison and Audrey and they were identical twins and lived with each other for a century. A century of experiences later, Allison and Andrey had their 100th birthday. The twins were born on August,8,1910.Even though time had passed they think that nothing had changed than their hearings got bad. They had experienced world war 1 and also world war 2. They had lived with each  other for 25years, And still contacting with each other  with the program named  skype.

In conclusion I think that identical twins have smilar death period so that's why Allison and Audrey can live with long period with each other. I was quite surprised at how they were still healthy even though they wereso old.

Kiss of the vampire -Jordan-

There is a disease named stroke. It can easily be called as a brain attack. This can happen when the vessels to the brain is clogged or when they break. This disease can cause some disability of their bodies and even kill them. The vessel can be easily clogged when a guy has hypertention, obestiy, or diabetes. In Korea, the death rate of stroke is second highest. The first one is cancer. That means that stroke is very dangerous. According to the passage, it is able to cure the disease. In my opinion, however, I think that it is more important to prevent the disease than to cure it. There can be some errrors while we cure. For example, when we dissolve the clogged things, a hemorrhage which equals to bleeding can be aggravated. On the other hand, when you prevent it before it happens, the death rate will decrease a lot. But I still think that it is great to invent the drugs against the stroke.

People will quit smoking at 8,000 won a pack - alan haha too short

This article is talking about the solution which will help people to stop smoke and their solution was to increase the price of the cigarets to 8055.6 won. In my case, I think it is really simple but will have the effect. Also, the government will get more taxes. Of course, if this solution is apply to our society, there will be a lot of disagreeing and protesting. However, as much as they do that, the number of the smokers will decrease (including my father *_*) but still, there will be some people that will smoke FOREVER like my father. And those people will have to pay way more taxes and I think that money can be used for the development of our country. so I think increasing the price of the cigarets are a good way.

news and views-MARGARET THE MAGGIE-

Firstly, I consider them very lucky. Not every body lives through a century and it's not every day we see hundred years old grandparents. So in the case of this two identical twin, I believe that it would be wonderful to stay on our beautiful earth for so long-and it's better because they have a sister to live together and to make jolly. These two old women had lived together during world war two, shared happiness and pains together, and lived through all this life, side by side. Wouldn't it be really nice and happy to think that whenever you're blue or depressed, a person who comprehends you and knows you best is always there to comfort and to cheer you up? So because of these reasons I can't help but envy them of their special life.

I myself  had sometimes wanted to live until a hundred years old-no doubt that I also wished it for my family too. And so, because of my personal wish, it makes me think that the sisters are really born lucky - whatever can they wish for?? I have once seen an old granny, almost one hundred and three, who was on a TV programme. She said that she was very healthy and she even joked about seeing her great, great grandchildren. But she was most thankful to live such a happy life, to know the true meaning of life. I think the similarity between these old people is that they are always very joyful and grateful. So when I think about these positive aspects of growing old, sometimes, very randomly, I wish myself as a knowledgeable gramma.

twins celebrate century of sisterhood

There is the twins and they were born in100 years ago. They are healthy now, and they was healthy when they was born. Also, they have no problem except hearing and less mobile. And they was always together before the age of 25.
I was little bit suprised because of their age. It's hard to live until 100 and it's really hard for twins to live until 100!! Also, some twins are not healthy but that twins are very healthy. I think they have really good health.

After reading the novel"Animal Farm"-Lina

This novel is about a man named Mr.Jone he was a alcohol drinker and he own his farm named Manor farm.
there were pigs, cows, chicks, and other many animals. Because Mr.Jone is a alcohol drinker he does not treat animal nicely. So animals were always starved and sometimes got beaten by Mr.Jone.One night Major, an old boar, calls out for all animals to come to the big barn. He tells them about his vision of freedom and Animalism, and how their live would be improved. The main facts are that human beeings are the enemies, and they just can survive through rebellion, and all animals are comrades and equal, at the end he teaches them a song called "Beasts of England". He says that there is no special time for the rebellion but it will be, sooner or later. Three days later Major dies, but the animals keep his vision in mind. One day Mr. Jones comes home late and drunk and forgets to feed the animals. So in the morning the animals are starving and the rebbellion starts. They brake down the doors and feed themselves. Jones tries to control them but the animals are stronger and so he and his wife have to leave. Now the farm belongs to the animals. There are two pigs Napoleon and Snowball who follow the thought of old Major and work out "The Seven Rules Of Animalism.

The animals thought it would be a freedom but shortly it didn't because the pigs were always the leaders and if they get angry at them the dogs protected the pigs. So the smart ones did whatever they wanted and the rest of them had to follow the seven rules and also had to work that they did before. So for the other animals rather than pigs and dogs it had no difference than before it was just the same but the only difference was that pigs were the owners.

In conclusion well to be true I didn't finish the book but I finished the part that I read. Also I think the whole point that pigs wanted to escape form humans is that they wanted to be a leader from the animals from the farm.I think there were no differnce thinking between pigs and humans, because they treated other anmals badly and just thinking by their seleves!!!!!

ANIMAL FARM -MAGGIE THE MARGARET-

After I read the book, I felt some what insulted at the remarks about humans, but excluding that, I was pretty amazed at how the writer formed his claim into a fascinating story-yet relieving his arguments just the same.

The story takes place in a farm named Manor farm, and it is run by Jones the master and his group of workmen. They are not the perfect care givers for animals, and are a bit tilted to the bad side. But, overall, they seem like normal farmers, doing their daily work of collecting the eggs, plowing the fields and milking the cows. And of course, whipping the animals to get the animals disiplined. But to the animals, every thing they see going on the farm is wrong, cruel and unjustified. Every whip that cracks, every filed they plow, and their daily routine seems to be unbearable. They are always hungry , cold, and tired of the hard labors they had done during the day, and this is how they live, until the very day they would gey slaughtered and eaten or thrown away.

One day, when the animals were ill-treated again, they flew into a rage and kicked all the people right out their own property, and out side the farm . The people are tremendously confused and angry-why did the tame animals so suddenly turned their backs to their master? The thing they didn't know was that few days ago, a large old pig had blew courage into the animals chest , by saying that the animals will one day own the world freely, with out serving the masters. And when the boar died shortly after teaching the animals a song called "beasts of england" all the animals had vowed in their hearts that the old boar's prophecy will be true.

So the farm is run by the animals, and strangely enough, the farm prospers better than the old days and the animals are happy. The farm if now well organised by the animals especially by the two pigs- Snowball and Napoleon. The two pigs are the smartest in the farm and had learnt how to write. So they write down the seven commandments (which says what animals shouldn't do) on the back of the farm house. The animals were devoted to the rules and their life- until the two pigs starts fighting upon a idea about building a windmill. And while doing the debate concerning this issue, Napoleon makes the dogs chase Snowball away, and becomes the head of the farm. So ,by removing his most hated rival, and with no one to interfere his plans, he  slowly changes and breaks the rules that had been kepted until that very moment. At first what the animals wanted was to keep their farm products and not sell the young ,and  always to stay equal.  However, Napoleon makes himself the owner of the farm and the animal's leader, and pretends to be human, by wearing  human clothes. He carries whips and forces the animals to work, while he stays indoors and sleep. He eats and takes all the best things for himself, while the animals sleep in the stable ,cold and hungry for the shortage of food.

The song which had brightened things up was banned and the pigs slaughtered and executed the animals who were old and weak, and those who didn't follow them. The animals were horrified , but were soon brainwashed that it was okay, because the pigs had done it.  However, they were very confused and did not know what to do-only one thing was clear. They were ill-treated, hungry and now even hearts were swelled up in pure fright. This was not what they dreamed of a better life. Things had not progressed-maybe it was even worse. But they knew no solutions and were smart enough to know to be quiet. To them, they were not pigs but a master and a  ruler, but also, their comarode the pig. So the animals lived in terror and fright of the creatures-pigs or humans or the between of those.

After I had read the book, I wondered where Snowball had went. Maybe he would have gone to another farm and set up a better society. But this I don't know, because power and riches always blinds a man. So Snowball could be  like Napoleaon too-or kept on being equal and being the most truest and respectable comorade.

The pigs (of manor farm) seemed like the North-Koreans - brainwashing their citizens that their ruler was always thinking about them, and that because of their great sir, their lands were prospering. Also, the book was telling about the cycle of society- when the leader dies out, another leader would come out, no matter the rules of equality and the giving of the same amount of power to everyone. Despite these rules, one would always stand out as a leader. And some how, achieve the title.

1-to-1THE MYSTERIOUS BENDICT SOCIETY AND THE PERILOUS JOURNEY MAGGIE

This book, was one of the books that I call a well book. A well, when one peers into it, would think that the well is very deep without even going down. In the same way, when I first read the first few pages, I wasn't really absorbed in it. Naturally, as I didn't know the characters and wasn't familiar with the story line, it was typical for me to show the reaction. This book contains of an very mysterious, yet in the meantime also genius-like adventures. I thought that the children were very brave-as in instances when I would have most certainly fainted- they worked together as a team and acted sensibly. I was most impressed by little Constance- so annoying yet so lovable! She seemed quite spoiled and head-strung in the story but she was able to compensate her flaws by her terrifically mighty and rare gift-to know something that‘s going to happen in the future. She was also depicted as a small helpless figure in the book, showing the periods when she was overcome with sadness and worry of her adopted father-Mr. Bendict.

The story starts as a simple surprise party from Mr benedict, who wanted to help celebrate their meeting. But he gets captured by his half twin brother, Mr curtain. The children tries to save him, solving riddles and clues. They go on a boat, go to a park in disguises, go to a hotel, almost get caught and get caught. And all the while, Constance is horribly worried about her father, and fears for his safety-besides she's only three years old-and constantly looks at her globe shaped pendant, which was given to her from Mr benedict, (and it also played an important role in their journeys.)

All the time during while I was reading the book I was trying to grasp the point of the book, the core meaning. I was sure that all books must have some meaning in it, even though it was just made for amusement. And as I slowly got to the end, I got it. The book showed a group of teenagers and a chid-all varying in age, race and personalities. They had each grown up in different surroundings and had different characteristics. However, they were able to work together as a team, understanding and caring for each other. So I was sure that the author wanted to express her opinion that everyone came cooperate and be great friends-no matter the circumstances. The writer had also shown a sense of equality of all sort of people. So different, yet so understandable.

Japan's Newest Police Dog -Jordan-

There is a new police dog named "Momo" whose name means peach in Japanese. She might be the first Chihuahua police dog in the world. Most dogs who rescue others are big and  they are ofthen sheperds from Germany. However, this Chihuahua which weighs only 6pounds and which is 7 year old is strange to be a police dog. In my opinion, Chihuahua would be very cute to be a police dog. But, with her very small bodies, she would suffer a lot while she works as a police dog. Though, I would like to have Police dog which is Chihuahua. According to the passage, it tells us about lots of advantages of  having Chihuahua as a police dog. It would also be easy to handle her since she is small and light.

biography -margaret-GODTFRED ,PRESIDENT OF ALL CHILDREN.

Godtfred was not a person who lived in luxury, but a person who had to experience constant failures and sadness- but emerged into a forever-loved person. Godtfred was born in 1920, as the third son in the Olle family. His family was poor ,and Gotfred had to skip school, and so was depleted of an real education .However, despite his loss, he was green fingered and was the favorite son of his father, who wanted his son to pass on his business as an carpenter. His fathers wish was one of the main reasons that lead him to be famous- but the real turning point starts when godtfred's mother passed away. As much as she was a loving, kind existence, the loss of her changed godtfred's father. He used to be a strong, cheerful man, always leading the way at the days of darkness, but the shock and overwhelming sadness made him feel shut out from the world. He worked on like a machine, working in the first streak of daylight, and going to sleep at dead night. Olle started to make toys during his free time-as not much customer was seen-and displayed them out side. Who in the world would have thought that this simple amusement grew to be one of the most famous business in all times.

The displayed toys started to get attractions of young boys and girls. The toys were actually imitations of ducks, which one could pull it around with a string. This new fashion of the toys surprised the people and everyone wanted to have one. Soon, every household had at least one of the toys made by Olle. Thanks to such sudden fame, the family started to invent new toys which became the most well known toys in history. For example the Yo-Yo brought a lot of fame and then the first toy truck. While his father was busy making these toys, Godtfred was coming up to an idea of making a toy that would be able to detach and put together again. And after long periods of thinking he was able to present the most historical toy-LEGO.

The lego became the world's most bought toy, and thrived under the power of the Olle family. And even though Godtfred died in the year 1995, his miraculous invention lives on, living his traits in every child's hand. By this, he is known as the president of all children, men and women.

News & Views -Maggie-***

When we normally hear the term, 'police dogs', we get visions of huge, sturdy dogs, running after villains and rescuing people. But if one happens to pass by a pet store and see a little chihuahua, one's first thought would be contrast to when they see a big burly police dog. This phenomenon occurs because of the constant brainwash the society is emitting. For example, a big dog would play the role of a police dog, and a small chihuahua as the pet of the victim. because of this, the dogs are sen at different levels- the big ones as the protectors and savior ,while the small ones as a pleasurable pet and the one who should get protected. This had been a unchangeable fact for years and finally, Japan had started to make things real.

Japan has been training a little chihuahua , named Moo-Moo, to be a police dogs. And the dog successively passed all the tests and recorded to be the first chihuahua to earn a title of an police dog. The reason why this small dog was trained was because the officers agreed that the small dog would be able to go in to small openings (which is useful when trying to find survivors in natural catastrophe).

I find this article pretty amusing and sensible. They had been right about the way they had explained the positive affects the small police dogs could give us and it made me curious about the views of the readers. Not everyone would have a good sweet view about this- and I've been thinking about the negative sides. For example, one might argue that the small dogs are less loyal and stupid. Which in some cases is true, as especially the chihuahua is well known for it's low loyalty.
But I'm also quite eager to see small police dogs, going around the streets and participate in movies too.

The mysterious Benedict society and the perilous journey-Lina

The story begins at Kate Wetherall's farm, where all the children plan to stay for a few days before setting off to Stonetown to visit Mr. Benedict, who is planning to send them on an international treasure hunt to test their skills. When they arrive at Mr. Benedict's house, they receive bad news from Rhonda that Mr. Benedict and Number Two have been kidnapped by Ledroptha Curtain, the villain of the previous book and twin brother of Mr. Benedict. In his ransom letter, Mr. Curtain describes a certain "rare plant" and says he needs to know the identity of a person "extremely close" to Mr. Benedict, because that person has information about this mysterious plant. If this information is not provided to him, Mr. Benedict and Number Two will be in "grave danger". Constance reveals that Mr. Benedict gave her a letter before he was kidnapped, and told her to open it when the other children arrived. The envelope contains a message of greeting from Mr. Benedict, and a nonsensical riddle. In solving the riddle, they discover that the words are in alphabetical order. This leads them to a dictionary, and then a journal - in which is another nonsensical riddle. The children discern it to mean TAKE THE SHORTCUT. The children sneak off on the M/V SHORTCUT, the “fastest ship in the world” and find more information that takes them to a castle in Portugal. From there, hidden evidence directs them to a library in Thernbaakagen. There they learn that the “mysterious plant” is called duskwort and is extremely rare - possibly extinct. It has the power, when burned in fire, to put entire villages to sleep for hours on end. It also is a possible antidote to Mr. Benedict’s narcolepsy (Mr.Benedict found this out because of his parents and his parent's great friend). Researching the duskwort, they find that no one knows what it looks like. They travel to a hotel, but are found by two of Mr. Curtain’s henchmen, called the Ten Men. However, they are rescued by Milligan, who accompanies them to find more evidence. They finally find the location of the duskwort - an abandoned island. On the island they find a delirious Number Two, who tells them where Mr. Benedict is: the top of the mountain on the island. They are ambushed by a group of Ten Men. Milligan comes to the rescue, and takes on the Ten Men. The children travel to the top of the mountain, while Milligan is backed off a fifty-foot cliff and falls onto a bed of rocks. They discover Mr. Benedict chained to the wall in a cave. He begs them to destroy the duskwort. Upon the children saying they don’t know what it looks like, he jumps up and reveals himself to be Mr. Curtain, and locks the children to the wall with the real Mr. Benedict. Mr. Curtain leaves after Mr. Benedict tells him where the duskwort is. Mr. Benedict cleverly tricks S.Q. Pedalian into unlocking their handcuffs, and they get away. Mr. Benedict falls asleep from narcolepsy, and the children are forced to carry him down the mountain. They find Milligan (extremely injured) and Mr. Benedict comes back from his deep snooze too. They race to the forest with Ten Men are surrounding them everywhere, in addition to Mr. Curtain’s amphibious vehicle being hot on their trail. Just when all seems lost, the mighty figure of the SHORTCUT races into the bay at top speed. It grounds on the shore, allowing the children to climb on board. Ten Men manage to board the ship, as well, and attach an explosive to the door of the security hold where the children, Milligan, Mr. Benedict, and all the other people in the ship are hiding. Kate jumps up and runs to the door, detaching the explosive and running up onto the deck. As it is about to explode, she tosses the explosive over the railing, away from the boat, and also away from the escaping villains. It is implied that the boat docks safely and the children are reunited with their families.
