Send rice to N. Korean Flood Victim

Ahn Sang soo is trying to send rice to flood victims of North Korea. He suggested in a meeting that took place on Sunday. Lee Hoi chang, who is the leader of the traditionally conservative Liberty Forward Party, urged aid for flood-hit regions in North Korea. He told senior members of party that the damage from the flood will bring the suffering of a food shortage to North Korea. But he added that it doesn't mean that the sinking of the Navy corvette Cheonan is forgiven or forgotten. However, the government "is not considering any rice aid to North Korea.". Due to the sinking or the Cheonan, it hasn't been changed in the government policy to shelve the project but they continue supporting. I think that North Korea has been suffering a lot because of the flood hit. It is reasonable to help them even though the sinking of the Navy.

wiered homeskeeps tabs onaging parents - Lina

If you have a aging parents you should have a electronic stuffs.Because it helps them to remember stuffs or you can see everything with you camera.not only taking pictures you can see other people' privacy like seeong you dad's underwear(which will be hilirious.)and with the computers if your eyes are bad you can alwalys zoom the screen and make it bigger.and I think my grandparents should use computers because if they leaves the house they wiill know by with a laptob or a phone. It will keep them out of getting stealed by a rubber.Because my grandparents have a habit to open their windows. I think doing wiered housekeepers are good because they are electronic and can work harder than a real housekeeper watching the owner's house.
I think it's a brliant thing to make a electronic house keeper. I hope that having a housekeeper who is elactronic. But I hope rubbers don't steal our stuffs!!!In my opinions I like the idea and I hope because of that there will be no stealing in the world!

The Metamorphisis - Lina

The novel that I just read was "The Metamorphis"This Novel was about when Greger Samas woke up one morning from unsettling dreams, he found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous bug like a beetle or something. He was really disappointed that he was picked for turning in to a bug. That was the only time Greger Samas working for his job for about five or six years. After all the family knew what was going on Greger hoped and hoped that it was a bad dream. But in the real life he was a bug the family knew that Greger could not work as a saleman anymore now Greger's father started to treat him as a real bug. If I'm being spesific the family didn't even give him food and just locked him at his room. Sometimes his sisiter gave him leftovers but it was not enough for him.Eventually Greger dies when he was locked and could not eat or get love anymore.I think the author of this book is telling that like Greger's parents did not like him anymore because he could not earn anymore money.Well the whole point is that I couldn't get the meaning of this book and 'in't get what the author was telling about or the plot of the story. So yeah but still the book was so sad and the cover page picture is very very very scary!!!And I'm not even sure the main character is dead because the book hasn't finished yet!~

After reading METAMORPHOSIS Alan

The book “Metamorphosis” is about the man named Gregor Samsa. One day in the morning, he found out that he became a cockroach. He tried to go to the company that he works because he was scared that he will be fired but it was really hard to get out of the bed with the cockroach’s body. So the chief clerk came to his house and asked him some questions but he found out that he can listen what people are saying but he can’t speak the language that they are speaking. So he went out to see the clerk. The  clerk ran away and the family fainted after watching the giant cockroach coming out from the Gregor’s room. So he was locked in the room. However, what will happen if the people notice that there are a giant cockroach in there house? Because of that problem, they decided to abandon him. He dies that night, alone and heartbroken. However, Gregor's death lifts a great weight to the family Also there was one more problem. Until now, Gregor made money but now who will? So all three started their own job and moved to the other place.

The first thought that I had after reading this book was that it is a book for adults and some parts were a little hard to understand. So I had to read it again!

Anyway, now I will write my ideas about the story. First, I think this story is telling me that his relationship between humans is just for the hypocrisy and the advantages of their own. The sister who was always cleaning Gregor’s room and giving him some food started to be careless about him and at last, she said “We have to get rid of it” to their family and the father agreed. The person who was making money, which is really important to his family, became the worst trouble among them. So I think that this story is telling me that every human relationship is just for the advantages of their own.

Then I had a question. Why do you think he became a cockroach? He could be a bear or any other kind of animal. What do you think? People say that we can normally know the person’s real feelings through the behavior that the person do when the other person had a big trouble. By changing Gregor into the insects, people show the real feelings about him. In other words, by making the protagonist into the insects that people dislike, it better explains the “big problem” that can show the real feeling of the other people.

And there is something that I learned about. In this story, Gregor got out of the human’s world. Therefore, he couldn’t do anything that he could do when he was a human. Only thing he can do was to observe the human’s world and how do they live. In other word, he can’t do the things that human can do but it is much better to observe. If we see the world in the different aspect, it looks totally different. So I think through Gregor turning into insect, it is telling this fact.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed this book but…… it took so long time to think those ideas!!!

book review -METAMORPHOSIS- MARGARET****

Gregor Samsa awakes one morning to find that he has been inexplicably transformed into a giant insect, perhaps a roach. His parents and his sister Grete try to rouse him so he can make it to his dreary job as a traveling salesman as the whole family depends on him for their livelihood. Gregor, however, is now a bug. When a clerk from his company comes to demand an explanation for his absence, Gregor makes a great effort to open his bedroom door and uncover himself. This move sends the terrified clerk tearing down the stairwell fleeing, and Gregor's family into complete chaos. Grete, more than his father or mother, handles the situation practically. Gregor is fed, and his room is cleaned. Before long, however, economic reality requires all three to find work, and less attention is paid to Gregor-except when he gets out of his room. No one in the family is fully able to reconcile him- or himself to the insect Gregor, and Gregor is unable to express himself to his family. The fear and disgust his presence inspires is a detriment to his mother's health and incites his father to brief fits of violence. One such fit, a sudden bombing of fruit, gives Gregor a deep and crippling wound. Hobbled and neglected, Gregor begins to waste away in his room. The family takes in three carping lodgers, using Gregor's room to store excess furniture and other objects-adding insult to the injury. Yet the family does leave Gregor's door slightly open in the evenings, so that he may take part in the household in a small way. One evening, the lodgers hear Grete practicing her violin. Delighted with the music, they call her into the parlor for a concert. She obliges, and the music so moves Gregor that he creeps out into the parlor towards her, wanting to convey that he understands her gift and will help it to blossom. The lodgers see Gregor and immediately give notice. And this is the breaking point for the family. Furious Grete declares that they must abandon the notion that this hideous bug is their dear Gregor. All sadly agree. Gregor slinks back into his room, abandoned from his family. He dies that night, alone and heartbroken. However, Gregor's death lifts a great weight to the family. After a slight moment of mourning, the father demands that the lodgers leave the house immediately. Then the family takes a trolley out of the city and into the countryside. It is a beautiful, sunny day, and as Grete stretches out her young, beautiful body in the trolley car, her parents thoughts turn to finding her a husband. since the moment I have put my eyes on the content, I have been full of questions, and have been expecting some sort of explanation - which to my uncontrollable dismay was forced to close the book with none. Most part of it I marveled over the wordy, ample sentences-but could not stop myself to ask, Why? How? What? So it felt like reading a whole set of encyclopedia, tumbling over words and expression. I' m sure that the writer meant to leave some meanings in the book, maybe, or surely, the meaning might be the writers opinion that people only judge another by their out-looks, not by the sprit inside. The family of Gregor is a good example of this. Also, metamorphosis means the stage of the process every larvae has to take become a breath-takingly beautiful butterfly. So, simply speaking, a process of being born again into a better form? However, In the story, Gregor, instead of brightening, molds into something hideous ,witch is a complete opposite from the meaning.
But I failed to reveal the true meaning. Maybe I'm too young to understand ?

I wonder...

News and Views - Clean Water, Shelter hard to find in Pakistan - Alan

Pakistan is now just like a nightmare. There are not enough houses, only a few tents that they built on the ‘graveyard’. Over 5 families are sharing the single tent. It’s really hot in the sun and cold at night. There are no foods, no clean and fresh water, and no medical care. Almost everyone including children are suffering from the diseases that cause serious illness of death. Some of the schools and hospitals were changed into the official camps that are a little better than the tents that it has electricity, small rooms, and foods. However, it is still not enough to live. According to the survey, a single person needs to have at least $10 per day to live but the people in Pakistan have nothing. There are no jobs and children can’t learn. Some people say that it would be better to die compare to their lives there. Who will help them? Personally I think some nations would make and colony like Japan did to Korea, taking all the good and useful things and making people to work, and say “we are just helping you to develop your country”. Or in positive way, some other country will help them but not right away. At first, everyone will wait and when the situation starts to be better, a lot of people and nations will start to help because it would be easier to help them.

He wanted Ludwig to be perfect in music, and that made him to punish Ludwig whenever he made any mistake during practice.

During the period 1800 to 1813, Beethoven learned high classical style and even adopted it in his creations. He gained popularity very fast during the middle period of his life. It was a time when he wanted to concentrate on his work and continue with new compositions, but at the same time he suffered from hearing problem.
At the time when everything had almost finished for Beethoven, he came up with a determination that helped him mark his re-entry in the world of music. Beethoven's musical work during this period was the most ultimate performance he ever gave. He was successful in gaining popularity again as a public figure and was respected for his work in the field of music. After few years, however, he was in situation where he became almost deaf and could hear nothing.
His health went on deteriorating and he had not enough funds left to take care of himself. Finally, on March 26 1827, the great musical genius left this world forever.

NEWS AND VIEWS-Send rice to north korea-MARGARET****

Poor, poor,North korea, again striken with chaos and natural diaster.North Korea has evacuated more than 5,000 people in a region bordering China, following after heavy rain and flash floods submerged houses and farmland. Military planes and warships were urgently deployed on Saturday to the submerged areas in and around Sinuiju, a North Korean border town, and successfully rescued the residents who were at the crossroads of life and death.  The North Korean report said that the"unprecedented downpours" hit China's northeastern regions from Thursday to Friday, sparking flash floods in the Amnok River that marks the border between the two nations. It reported that 5,300 cubic meters of water rushed into the river per second from China, prompting its sudden overflow at midnight on Friday. The flash flood paralyzed traffic and did damage to many objects and flood victims were at a loss on the roof tops of buildings and hills. And now our country is spliting into major groups ,one that suggests of donating rice to the North koreans ,who are at the brim of starvation. And the the other group that argues of any donating,to the back ground of the case of 'chunanam'.Personally, I belive that all those kind donation can wait.Well, if we give them food and all those furiously needed facillities, what comes back to us?A gratful word of thanks?Or a gratful speech? Huh,I guarantee that it's more likly that some more broken ships or someother unpleasent things will reach us.Really,North korea are rubbing their own trust off!

Biography -CLEOPATRA MARGARET****

Cleopatra is the last ruler of Egypt-and the most famous one. During her reign, Egypt went through rough times, fighting and enduring. And she, during all those rockets, was able to engrave her name forever in history.

Cleopatra originally ruled jointly with her father Ptolemy XII Auletes and later with her brothers, Ptolemy XIII and Ptolemy XIV, whom she married for following the Egyptian ancient custom, but eventually she became sole ruler. (There are myths that Cleopatra assassinated her brothers.) As pharaoh, she made alliances with Julius Caesar that solidified her grip on the throne. She later elevated her son with Caesar, Caesarion, to co-ruler in name.

After Caesar's assassination in 44 BC, she aligned with Mark Antony in opposition to Caesar's legal heir, Gaius Iulius Caesar Octavianus (later known as Augustus). With Antony, she bore the twins Cleopatra Selene II and Alexander Helios, and another son, Ptolemy Philadelphus. This move enraged Octavian,as being the brother- in-law to Antony. So he declared war to Egypt -the turing point of history. After losing the Battle of Actium to Octavian's forces, Antony committed suicide, after hearing a false report that Octavian defeated cleopatra whole and killed her. Cleopatra, shocked and heart-broken by the sudden unexpected loss, killed herself by means of an asp bite on August 12, 30 BC. She was briefly outlived by Caesarion, who was declared pharaoh, but soon to be killed on Octavian's orders. So Egypt became the Roman province of Aegyptus. To this day, Cleopatra remains a popular figure in Western culture. Her legacy survives in numerous works of art and the many dramatizations of her story in literature and other media, including William Shakespeare's tragedy Antony and Cleopatra, Jules Massenet's opera Cleopatra and the 1963 film Cleopatra. In most depictions, Cleopatra is put forward as a great beauty and her successive conquests of the world's most powerful men are taken to be proof of her aesthetic and sexual appeal.
In one of his writings, philosopher Blaise Pascal says that Cleopatra's classically beautiful profile changed world history: "Cleopatra's nose, had it been shorter, the whole face of the world would have been changed."(and I think so too!)

Biography - Matin Luther king-jr Lina

Martin Luther King fought for the racisim between whites and the blacks durung 1950~1960 something.
He was born in 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. He wanted to show people that all the people are equal not depending with their skin color.During the time when Martin Luther king lived there were segregation for the restrooms, emplowees(jobs) and many other stuffs. And Martin Luther King knew that that wasn't fair and he knew that peace doesn't do anything with violence and fighting.

When Mating Luther King was around 30s he started a community that can persue the people who think humiliating people depends on their skin color.Ofcourse Martin Luther King was the leader because he was the most educated because he was a minister. The community worked hard to tell the people to realize that skin colors doesn't really mattes.

"I have a Dream" the famous speech that Martin told the speech to almost all the people in america. He got a novel prize from working that hard to make people to realize that it is a very bad thing to compare people with skin color.

In his life he never thought of him self he always fought with people not with violence but with his words.
I'm really glad that there is probably no racisim in the world.

Book review of DEMIAN(only until chapter 5) MARGARET

The novel,' DEMIAN' is a life story about a boy who endures and overcomes conflicts, as he passes through the stages of adolescence and grown-up. Being born in a sacred place, he had time to time looked over his realm into the world of evil. But luckily, his friend Demian indicates his path and helps him an awful lot of times to become himself again and to go on. To me, the boy seems like as if he is cut in half. One part which is full of emptiness, isolation, melancholy, despair and short meditative walks, which in other words represents the darkness in him. The other part is full of model behavior, gentle conversations, morning hymns and celebrated christmas. This part is full of light, love, confession, and words from the bible, a path his parents expected him to move on. He tilts unevenly to the darkened side then to the light by the help of his friend Demian. And this can also mean that while the boy is lost and desperate, Demian is always calm and smooth knowing his every words. To the reader, the boy would be something like a fool compared to the brilliance of Demian. Even though some phrases in the content made me feel as if I was reading a bible, I could not stop myself from praising Hesse, the writer of the book. He knows how to make his words seem important, and to make the reader feel as if he or she is actually in the story.....(it's 2 : 40 in the morning... and I'm dying)

The Samsung Galaxy Beam - Alan

Samsung has announced its brand new Galaxy brand Android, Samsung Galaxy Beam Mobile Projector Phone, that boasts of a Beam projector. The Samsung Galaxy Beam, the worlds first smartphone, is equipped with an beam projector. There are also powerful features such as 8 megapixel camera, and video recording and playing.  Also the Samsung Galaxy Beam has 32-GB micro SD expansion memory card. It also includes accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto-shutdown.

However, there are also some bad things about the Samsung Galaxy Beam, too.  The first thing that everone knows is that it is over $1000, which is not a small amount of money. People are expecting that because of the battle between Galaxy Beam and Galazy S, the price will eventually go down but still it will take a long time.

In my opinion, because of these reasons, a lot of people will buy this phone in the future and they will use it for the presentation too. However who knows that the  better phone will come out in the future?

Villagers Seek Permission to Commit Suicide - Margaret

Villagers of the drought-affected Jarda Village of Jharkhand, facing a severe drought due to the poor monsoon, have asked the state government to give them permission to commit suicide. The villagers wrote a letter to the governor of the state, demanding either essential provisions or permission to commit suicide. Meanwhile, Sunil Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Officer of the region said the situation is being handled by the authorities, who have been instructed to provide the villagers with required facilities . In my opinion the government should immediately do something about it not just talking about what they are going to do, but to really carry it out. And I can understand the villagers mind. Complete furry it will be. As I imagined myself as one of the people craving for water and food with a government which doesn't help us and even ignore us until we are at the highest level of endurance and choose to suicide. The anger of injustice hovered over me, enveloping me whole. Where is the justice?

Kim Jong-il's luxury suit.-Lina

Kim Jong-il had bought a wonderful suit.Early in 1990s he ordered a fabric and it was all the way to France.
It was 60 yards with good and high quality.Kim Jong-il had bought the fabric with 300$ US dollars.
Kim Jong-il gives his nice suits to his closest aides that almost costs 1200$. Even if the south koreans
wold like to buy the suits that Kim Jong-il likes to wear, it still be a bit pricey. But for the
average people that lives in north korea it will like unimagnable.

In the article it had said that Kim Jong-il is very picky about the brand of the suit.
When he went to China for a visit with the aides, and the chinese people already knew that
Kim Jong-il  likes to wear perrier.

In my opinion I think wearing a luxury suit makes him feels like he is a important person
but the north korean's economy is really bad I hope Kim Jong-il will learn someday that wearing a
luxury suit doesn't help his people who are suffering.

Demian - Lina

This book was about a life of a boy.He had a normal life at start of the story but after playing
with Franz Kromer, his life had changed. It started when he was playing with his friend a boy who was
a little order  his name was Franz Kromer. He went to a public school. The boy wanted Franz to get
attention to him so he lied that he had stolen an apple from the apple store.Franz asked him if he can swear to the god and the boy swore. The main problem was that Franz was poor. Franz litterly was about to tell
the owner from the apple store.Franz told him that he  had to pay for him(a lot) but the problem was he didn't had that much money.

One day there was a new student named Max Demian. He looked really adultish and he was very smart.
Well he had a abillity to speak persuasively to people. The boy started to speak with Demian and soon they becom friends. He told im about the story about Franz.

The next day Franz didn't even looked at him probably beaause he was scared to Demian.
The boy was really suprised that Demian just can control other people's mind.

Now this part was about the part when all the chracters are grown up.
Demian lived with his mother. Her name was Eva.That period of time it was when it was during 1940s because it was during war time.I think probabaly all the mans during Demian and the boy's age had to go to the war place. All the men were capable of dying for one.

One night Demian and the boy sleeping some one called the boy's name. When he woke up there was no Demian there as only a stranger.

If I can score this book it was ten on nine beacause the  plot was good. This book was very interesting.

After Reading The Call of The Wild - Margaret

The call of the wild is a book about the sled dog named Buck, and his story which happened while he was running through many thousands miles in the cold Artic darkness. I have never thought of Buck being a sled dog as the story first says that Buck was a dog of Judge Miller's, who treated Buck neither as a house dog . nor a kennel dog. However when Buck was sold to a red-sweatered man, and then to a sled-driver, Buck knows that his life is about to change.

During the procession of molding him into a sled-dog, Buck gets whipped and beaten by clubs by the masters and be bitten and stoled by the other dogs. Buck adapts fast and becomes the leader of the pack. Buck also encounters a lot of
troubles such as the death of a dog and the raid of the huskies. Later on Buck's master changes into a know-nothing-about-dogs person. They tire out buck into a horrible condition and leave him there with Bucks last master John.

when John dies after a terrible attack of the Yeekats, Buck is unconsolable and go joins the wolf pack. And the story end by informing that Buck later on becomes the leader of the wolf pack.

Personally, I think the story is too obvious in some parts like Busk becoming the leader of the pack of dogs and wolves. Yes, maybe the author was just trying to remind the readers that Buck is unbeatable, and to emphasize the old virtue - endurance and hard work pay off. Yet it still seems strange to me to write the same thing twice. Overall, I enjoyed reading the book expecting when the revolution would come. Unfortunately, the turning point never came and to me the story of Buck is not finished!
